Sleep Apnea Cause
Sleep apnea can be a life-threatening disorder. It is important to learn the causes and understand it better to find a proper treatment. To start, sleep apnea is caused by a relaxation of the muscles in the back of the throat. When this happens, the air passage narrows or gets obstructed while you are breathing in, interrupting breathing.
Once the air is restricted, so the oxygen in the blood is reduced. Your brain then send signals that causes you to wake up for just a few seconds, making it impossible for you to achieve a deep state of sleep. This awakening, being very short, isn't remembered throughout the day, that's the cause why many people don't know they suffer from sleep apnea.
When you awake you choke or gasp for air, this isn't easily noticed by you, as sleep is resumed quickly. This is process that repeats over and over fr up to 30 times per hour throughout all the night.
When we talk about central sleep apnea, it occurs because your brain fails to transmit signals to the muscles used for breathing. This happens mostly because of heart disease and its sufferers are most likely to recall the awakening episodes.
